Know Your Platform: Social Media Channels in GIFs

Far too often we see organizations, campaigns, and businesses populating each social media channel with the same content--same text, same photo, all at the same time of day. It doesn't work.

Each platform is designed to elevate different pieces of content. It's critical to understand the purpose of each platform and the reason users visit each social media channel.

So how the heck do you use each platform?

Facebook: “I agree with you and you and you”

Twitter: “What is happening in the world”

Instagram: “All the cool kids are doing it”

Pinterest: “You can do it too”

Snapchat: “Show me, show me”

Be intentional with your choice to join a platform, and be strategic with the content you post. If you take just a bit of time to differentiate and outline a strategy, then you can make sure you put the right content on the right channel. Otherwise you’re exerting energy without a lot of return. At the end of the day, it goes back to investing time and energy into an entire social media strategy and creating content that tells your story and lifts up your brand.
